I headed out on my long ride today not knowing how I would feel. Several miles down the road and I got an inkling that this could be a good day. I made my way north to extend the ride a bit and hit some roads I haven’t been on in awhile. There was a couple little climbs but nothing too crazy. I worked my way up them and the legs made it feel easy. Huh…could be a magical day? It was. Since I only had my old road bike to ride, I was only carrying 2 bottles of water, but water had managed to present itself at just the right times. I decided I would do the hills out of Topton for the final part of my ride, but before that I must refuel at the Market Cafe. A big chocolate chip cookie and a home brewed iced tea would add the magic to get me up the hill. I savored each morsel of the cookie and replenished my fluids with a refreshing tea and then it was off for some final hills. These hills are tonight anytime, but after over 2 hours of riding already it could be a challenge. It was tough, but definitely manageable. I made my way to the top before I knew it and was coasting my way down towards home. I was feeling a bit cocky after and headed towards Pilgerts for another incline but a dog started chasing me so I turned and headed home. A good day. 47 miles in around 3:09 hours, not bad for this early in the season.
